"Finished-Unfinished" Look of Knotted Bun
Step-by-Step Tutorial

Hair Stylist: Jon Reyman

Olivia Garden Hair Tools:
HeatPro Thermal Styler & Style-Up Folding Combo Teasing Brush

Step 1: Start by using styling product on dry hair and then blow dry it with the HeatPro Thermal Styler 9 Row to add texture into the hair. Tip: For fine, thinner hair use HeatPro Thermal Styler 7 Row.

Step 2: Next, separate the front section of the hair using the Style-Up Folding Combo Teasing Brush to create a “fringe” effect that resembles a dramatic side bang.

Step 3: Then, put the rest of the hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck and tie off with elastic. To create the knot, use a small rubber band with 2 bobby pins attached. Insert one bobby pin on one side of the ponytail, lift hair, and secure second bobby pin on the other side of the pony tail to create a lifted fold.

Step 4: Twist the hair around & secure with bobby pin to create a knotted bun effect, leaving some hair coming out beneath the bun.
